'Goodbye's' the Saddest Word..

Goodbye's the saddest word I'll ever hear
Goodbye's the last time I will hold you near
Someday you'll say that word and I will cry
It'll break my heart to hear you say goodbye
Those are the lyrics to one of my favorite Celine Dion Songs, and they have played over and over in my head since about 1:20 this morning when I got the call that my Grandma Tenney had finally left this mortal life. It's hard to find words that would do my Grandma justice. She was such an amazing example of virtue, forgiveness, unconditional love, and I have never met a more Christlike person in my life.
Eventhough Grandma was 96, and ready to move on to the next life, it is still hard to say goodbye and to fill that void.
Grandma...I will miss your soft smile, your sense of humor, and your love. I will always be your little chick-a-dee and you will always be my Grandma Kodak (you are the reason I LOVE photography)!! I am so grateful that Brandon and I followed the promptings of the spirit and went by to see you last Thursday. How grateful I am for the knowledge of the gospel to know that someday I will see you again and be able to throw my arms around you and give you a big fat hug!!! I will love you forever!

Goodbye IS the saddest word. 96 or not, it is still a loss. I am so grateful to the Lord that he makes it possible for us to believe in forever. I've been thinking about Grandma and all of the people she's seeing on the other side, and you know her smile has got to be beaming. I look forward to that day when you and I will get to have a reunion like that and bask in the love and joy, and peace that it must bring to be done with this mortal life. We are so lucky to have her as our grandma. I'm so lucky to be your cousin, and I LOVE YOU! I'm going to give you a big fat hug when I see you this weekend, by the way!

Corie, I think it's so neat that she was your 1st grade teacher! I'm a teacher, too, and I KNOW that she's got to love you, and I'm positive she remembers you. I love my students so much and I know my grandma looked back on those teaching days with fondness.

There's no one that deserves to go on to her final reward more than your Grandma Tenney. She truly was a great lady. My husband loved teasing her when she was a teacher for him. I used to tell him he ought to be ashamed of himself because she always took him so seriously, but she was a good sport about it. She has been a great example to us all. I cherish the memories I have of her, being her visiting teacher, riding with her to Sierra Vista and back when she went to see her daughter, and other special times.

What an incredible example she was to so many people. There is never a good time to lose anyone and I know it isn't any different with Grandma Tenney. I am so sorry for the loss and ache you all feel. Your grandmother will be missed by so many, but her legacy will go on forever. We are so grateful to have known her and ever more grateful for the interaction and love we have with/for her family.

So sorry to hear. I love that you used the word virtue to describe her. I pray that my daughters may have that one quality.
