My brother Ron approached me during the summer and asked if I would be interested in directing our High School choir along with my sisterinlaw, Melanie. It's always been my dream to direct a high school choir...I just didn't want to have to go to all the schooling for it. Since I don't have a degree we aren't allowed to meet during regular school hours and are considered a zero hour class, which means the kids don't get credit for it. They did away with our choir program at Mogollon a couple years ago due to the lack of participation(they only had 4 kids in it the last year it was at the high school and then only 8 in it last year as a zero hour class). After bribing the kids with the promise that we would feed them every practice, we ended up with 42 kids in the choir. We practiced on Friday mornings and after other sport practices during the week. Our first concert, A Christmas Family Festival, was a success!! We had it on November 30th, which was the Monday right after Thanksgiving. We had a Tree Lighting Ceremony and had Hot Cocoa and Cookies afterwards. I am in awe at the talent our little community possesses. These kids seriously ROCK!! We can't wait for our Spring Fling the beginning of April!
And a big THANK YOU to my amazing friend, John Hendrix, for the amazing photography!!!
